Betty Lou Smith Barnes Rouse
Betty Lou Smith Barnes Rouse of Columbia died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Parkside Manor. She was 92.
She was born June 13, 1916, in Howard County to Fielden and Mary F. Roberts Smith.
She married Jesse Barnes on Sept. 24, 1932, and he died on May 6, 1965. She married Issac Rouse on May 7, 1971, and he died on Nov. 23, 1984.
Mrs. Rouse worked for the Brown Shoe Co. in Columbia and Boonville before starting a family and later worked at MU’s Food Service.
Mrs. Rouse is survived by five daughters, Evelyn Sue Grooms of Fulton, Martha Cook of Columbia, Virginia Howard of Eldonand Joyce Bagwell and Anna Hampton,both of Rocheport; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. Services, conducted by the Rev. Mark West, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
